Abstract Two-dimensional (2D) materials are the focal point of intensive research efforts due to their unique properties and ability reveal fascinating new phenomena. As an analog graphene, phosphorene is a monolayer black phosphorus crystals. Phosphorene obtained special place among family 2D semiconducting because its features such as high optical absorption, carrier mobility, several other attractive having exceptional interest in electronic optoelectronic applications. The anisotropic orthorhombic crystal structure provides remarkable mechanical, electronic, optical, transport properties. This review summarizes phosphorene’s chemical physical highlights recent progress made synthesis. application phosphorene-based devices high-speed electronics optoelectronics has been surveyed.
